Skin Health: Beauty From Within
I woke up every morning to lemon water. Ate mostly plants. Worked out often. Made my own deodorant. But did I wash my face at night? No! (You can make a gross face, I deserve it...)
Skin health was something I thought about from an inside-out standpoint. I knew I needed hydration. I felt even the "non-toxic" brands of makeup and skin care was still too unfamiliar to me so until recently stayed away from it all. Which I was okay with for awhile, until small sunshine lines started appearing around my 35th birthday. Now what?
Then Debbie stepped in. An aesthetician who gave up her spa to work with the functional medicine doctor I partnered with because she saw a need for high-quality healthy products and real skin care. Talk about integrity. I have since been privileged to get some of her services and let me tell you - I feel and see a difference. I first got what she calls a Y Facial, featuring Shaklee's YOUTH line. Revolutionary anti-aging skin care with over 2,500 blacklisted ingredients. Do you realize how many toxins there are in most skin care products? Do your research on what is in your skin care and makeup line. It's SO important. Just because it says buzzwords like "all-natural" and "non-toxic" doesn't mean it's safe. Marketers are smart. The word "fragrance" alone masks a ton of allergens and parabens that can sneak into your deep skin layers and cause damage! The best part about this particular line is it actually works at reducing redness, fine lines, wrinkles and more. Clinical results without compromise. I've been using since August. It's legit.
Back to Debbie. She then gave me a DermaBlading which removes surface debris and unwanted vellus hair with no adverse effects. The result? Increased absorption of topical products assists in reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. The facial concluded with a medical hydration mask that left my skin seriously glowing. I will admit, I love the way it looked and felt, but the health benefits of getting all those YEARS of layers of dead skin left me feeling really good about the decision to partake. Two weeks later? Still smooth and the botanicals I'm putting on my face every day is keeping it shining + healthy.
Some cell rejuvenating names you want to look for in your products:
If you live local, come visit Debbie! If you don't, look around your area for a functional medical facility or wellness center that has a professional Aesthetician. Talk to them about your skin issues, skin type, and listen to what they recommend, but be clear you want only truly organic ingredients. Keeping healthy skin topically is as important as from the inside out.
Some tips for that? Sure!
Water: lots and lots of pure, filtered water. Hydration is key!
Green Tea: ECGC boosts blood flow and oxygen to the skin, delivering key nutrients to keep your complexion healthy
Kale: one of the best sources of lutein and zeaxanthin, nutrients that absorb and neutralize the free radicals created by UV light
Walnuts: great source of Omega-3s and deficiency in these fats can result in eczema and scaly skin
Oysters: top source of zinc, the mineral that plays an important role in the growth and function of skin cells
Want to really step up your skin care regime, immediately? Inject it! No, not with Botox. With intravenous therapy. Glutathione slows the production of melanin, making your skin brighter! When you combine with vitamin C, your skin becomes lighter with a more balanced skin tone. It's a breakthrough in brightening and cell defense because of it's powerful antioxidants.
Check your diet if you are having skin issues as well. Dairy and gluten are big culprets, but everyone is different. There is a skin chart in the forum that ties each part of the face to a connected part of the body that can help you with clues to what might be causing acne, dry spots, etc.
