How I Became The Green Mama I Am Today
It was 2009. I was a newlywed, working as a designer in the fashion industry in mid-town Manhattan, and unhealthy. I thought I was living a healthy lifestyle. I was always interested in nutrition, but was uneducated and following diet trends. I was working out hard, but not properly fueling my body.
My digestive system had been bothering me for months and after a false diagnosis that almost cost me my gallbladder, I decided to take my health into my own hands. I looked into my diet. Every inch of it. What I found about natural healing and how food affects us mesmerized me. I read and read and read, until I decided to enroll in the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in NYC.
It was there that I became certified by the American Association of Drugless Practitioners to be a Holistic Health Coach. I then had the knowledge I needed to pair with my passion of helping others take control of their health and was able to lead them lifestyle change.
Since graduating in 2011, I have had two sons, Ryan + Jake, who fire me up to stay even healthier, pass down my knowledge about nutrition and my love for our Earth. Their birth even inspired me to open up a stand at my local farmers' market to sell homemade baby food for a summer in New Jersey.
Along with my husband Craig, my 3 dudes encouraged me to want to start a blog for other mothers like me. Or for others NOT like me, who just want to explore the world of green living and clean eating. This is a place for those who wonder why I won't let my kids eat dyed cupcakes at every party and for those who love kale as much as I do. My family inspired me, and I hope to inspire you.
I am by no means perfect. I have cravings. I make Annie's Mac 'n' Cheese for the kids on nights when I'm out of ideas. I don't always feel like getting up to work out. But I think walking this journey together - learning new things and simply trying our best everyday to make the healthIEST decisions, we can conquer! I hope what I have learned in the past few years can help you as much as it helped me.
